Join BigBang Artwork for a free, family-friendly cultural experience designed for children and their families to explore the beauty of Chinese traditions through stories, creativity, and hands-on activities.
“The Taste of Solar Terms” introduces children to the traditional Chinese concept of the 24 Solar Terms—a system that reflects seasonal changes, nature, and everyday life—through engaging storytelling and interactive art-making.
This event is designed to be welcoming, thoughtful, and joyful, offering children a meaningful way to connect with culture beyond a traditional storytime.
What Children Will Experience
📖 Storytime & Guided Reading
Children will enjoy selected stories from The 24 Solar Terms picture book series, learning how seasons, food, and daily life are connected through simple and engaging narratives.
🎨 Hands-On Craft: Solar Terms Wheel
Each child will create their own rotating “Solar Terms Wheel,” helping them visualize how the year moves through seasons and time.
🖍 Creative Art & Interactive Q&A
Children will draw their favorite seasonal foods and participate in light, interactive questions to reinforce learning in a fun way.
🐼 Giant Panda Interaction
A friendly “giant panda” will join the event to interact with children, take photos, and create a joyful atmosphere.
📜 Participation Certificate
Every child will receive a commemorative “The Taste of Solar Terms” participation certificate.
📘 Early Registration Gift (Limited)
The first 20 registered families will receive a signed copy of My Father Xu Beihong, personally autographed by Ms. Xu Fangfang, daughter of the renowned Chinese artist Xu Beihong.

- Lead Educator Tianni Guo
Ms. Tianni Guo is a teacher and Program Specialist at Stonebrae Elementary School, Hayward Unified School District. She received her B.A. in English Literature from Tsinghua University and her M.A. in Elementary Inclusive Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has been working in Mandarin Immersion programs since 2016 and holds an educational administrator credential in addition to teaching credentials. - Guest Attendees
