2024 Sunnyvale New Year Garden Party A Happy Ending!
Ringing in the New Year with a BigBang Artwork!
As 2024 dawned, the festive spirit of Spring Festival bloomed like fireworks at Sunnyvale’s Plaza Del Sol. The 2024 Sunnyvale New Year Celebration, meticulously planned by BigBang Artwork, Silicon Valley China-US Chamber of Commerce, Chihuo and Game Mixer, brought a vibrant and joyful celebration to the community.
A Celebration of Culture and Community
The event boasted over 40 booths, attracting a crowd of 8,000 attendees. The presence of Sunnyvale Mayor Larry Klein, Saratoga Mayor Yan Zhao and Acting Consul General Song Guoxuan added prestige to the occasion. Mayor Klein specially wore traditional Chinese Hanfu to match the atmosphere of Lunar New Year. Mayor Klein, Mayor Zhao, Acting Consul General Song and the hosts distributed red envelopes, further amplifying the festive atmosphere.
A Feast for the Senses
Traditional performances showcased the captivating beauty of Chinese culture, Thank you to Ziying Zhao, Coral Liang, Jike Chong, Yue Cathy Chang, and Samantha Jia for bringing traditional Chinese instruments, Tai Chi sword, and tea art. Mayor Klein, Mayor Zhao, Acting Consul General Song also experienced the Chinese tea tasting and gained a deeper understanding of Chinese tea culture. Martial arts demonstrations, magic acts, talk shows, dance performances, and a captivating chorus provided an audio-visual feast for all. The event culminated in an award ceremony where every participant, young and adault, received a certificate signed by Mayor Klein, their faces beaming with pride.
Keeping the Fun Going
The event wasn’t just about cultural immersion; it was a blast for all ages! Bustling stalls offered delectable treats, exciting games, and fun activities like face painting and inflatable castles for the little ones. Pony rides, big rabbit interactions, and more kept children entertained for hours. The Sunnyvale Police Department and Fire Department ensured a safe and secure environment, even taking time to interact with children, fostering a sense of community and trust.
Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff and volunteers for their hard work and dedication. It is their selfless spirit and professional organizational skills that have showcased the profound cultural heritage of China throughout the entire event. Without their efforts, the success of this event would not have been possible. They have taken care of every detail with great dedication, infusing the event with a unique atmosphere of the Chinese New Year from the early planning stages to the actual execution. During this joyful celebration, we extend our sincerest respect to these quietly dedicated volunteers and thank them for presenting such a rich and colorful cultural extravaganza to us.
